European roulette wheel

A European roulette wheel has the numbers 1 to 36, plus a zero.
The croupier spins the ball and the object of the game is to try to guess which number the ball will land in.
You don’t have to just pick one number though. You can place as many bets as you like.

There are many different bets on European type roulette.
You can cover just one number with one bet or as many as 18 numbers with a lot of options in between.

It can be difficult to know when you’re allowed to bet. Pay attention to the croupier. When he says “Place your bets”, that’s when you can start betting. He might spin the ball while you are placing your chips, but that’s OK. You can keep betting right up until he says “No more bets”.

When the ball drops into a number in the wheel, the dealer will place a marker on the corresponding number on the betting area, or layout. He will then take away all the losing bets and pay all the winners.

If your bet wins and you are playing wheel checks, the dealer will usually pay you with the same chips. If you prefer, you can ask the dealer to give you cash chips with your payout that you can bring to the cashier when you are done.

If you cannot reach the numbers you want to bet on, just ask the dealer to place your bets for you.

One thing to remember: Casino dealers are not allowed to take anything out of your hand. Make sure you place any cash or chips you want changed, or bets you want placed on the table.

When you are placing your bets, try to keep them as tidy as possible. When betting on the inside area where all the numbers are, if somebody else already has a bet where you want to put yours, you can just put yours on top.
If you want to bet on a single number (which is a common and simply strategy of playing roulette), please try to avoid having your chip touch the lines, between the other numbers.
Otherwise, you might only get paid half.
